Love yourself for Valentine’s

hearts

They say “love is in the air“, what with Valentine’s Day on the 14th of this month. And there are many quotes on love, but this month I want you to love yourself (if you’re not already doing it). This post goes a little bit further than the general meaning of love, for another person or for yourself (you can find that elsewhere), and is more based on women’s health.

“Love yourself or no one else will.” Unknown

February 1st was National Go Red Day in the U.S., the beginning of heart-disease-in-women awareness month. On that day everyone is invited to wear something red and raise awareness for this disease, but also to celebrate women who are doing something about it!

Did you know that Heart Disease is the number 1 killer of women? Because the symptoms are different than for men, most of the time this goes undetected until it’s too late.

Some of the risk factors for heart disease in women are:

  • Physical inactivity
  • Being overweight or obese
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • ilovemeSmoking

Guilty of any of these? Don’t worry, you’re not a bad person  😉   and it’s not too late…

Do yourself a big favor, really LOVE yourself, and get educated about this disease.
